Let the Future Forgive Us

Let the future forgive us
for knowing
when we brought our offerings
on these altars
with smoke and incense
burning flesh
oil mixed with meal –

when we invited God to sit at our table
before we became abstract,

let the future forgive us
for knowing
what we were doing.

Small Alef

When you call me

When you call me
speak louder
I can’t hear the diminished alef –

the sound of affection.

I am listening I am listening

for the right word
the true.

Let the pure occupy themselves
with the pure.

(O My Dears)

O my dears

An interior picture in words and pictures we draw of your life as we live a prayer dedicated to your legacy; what endures.

Be a guide for us, for your family, be an angel for your loved ones as your loved ones were angels for you. Maybe you can send a sign — try something large –

or send another sort of sign something specifically you, send it over the divide
we’ll know it when we see it; we’ll recognize your style.

O my dear ones

We who joined you on your journey for a time in this life, mourning now your passing in the way life or God or nature or whatever it is we believe in writes our story.

Your goodness extends over the divide — more than memory — though memory is a blessing; we who survive you carry the lessons of your life in our lives,

We will have to live somewhat for you and for all the heroic co-travelers on our way, whose lives we know from the inside out.

And when you die we die some too, and when we live — you live some too.

Our Teacher Lured by Perfectability

Our Teacher Lured by Perfectability

Our teacher, lured by perfectability
created it out of all his imperfections –

God, as they say, gave him permission
[that’s all he needed]
to make it imperfect but with the right supernal pattern in mind.

The other Houses were destroyed
but Sanctuary always

Endures.

Our Teacher Is Smart

The attention to details
as they were given according to the command
of our teacher.

But our teacher didn’t know what to do
exactly
he needed the artist
who was born with his sleeves rolled up
bearer of tools.

And then there was God of course
who imagined the design of the Sanctuary
all the aspects of the Upper World created in the Lower World –

God showed it to our teacher
who couldn’t see the pattern.

And see that you make it after the pattern,
God said,
it’s there — on the mountain.

Oh the pattern,
our teacher said.

The Holy One took him by the hand
showed him every detail from the Upper form
after which our teacher built it in the earthly form.

It was shown through a dark glass
as it were
a reflection of all the parts
as it existed in the Highest Form.

Our teacher was again confused
so God said,
trust your intuition.
Follow your inclinations here,
that’s what I do.

Our teacher, lured by perfectability
created it out of all his imperfections –
intact.

God, as they say, gave him permission
[that’s all he needed]
to make it imperfect but with the right supernal pattern in mind.

The other Houses were destroyed
but the Sanctuary always

Endures.

Bones

Always the temptation
when doing the holy work
to bring too much stuff.

Enough, our teacher said,
enough stuff
– bring your bones.

Small alef; poetry. The Big Healing

On the heels of the molten beast
the order is given to build
he then gathered together
the entire community.

We feared he wasn’t coming down from the mountain
so we gathered against his brother
same root
and said to him
make us a god who shall go before us
for that man
who brought us out?
– we don’t know what happened to him.

And they made a molten beast
out of the rings they wore
in their ears.

So the building — a sign of healing
we have been forgiven
our slip
with the molten beast.

But the big Healing came to us through the artist
it was the artist who healed the wound.

Small alef; poetry Build It

Build it –
Lift it up
if we are lifted up
anything is possible –

there will be plenty of money
maybe too much.

There can be too much money.

Sometime I Feel So

Sometimes I Feel So

Sometimes I feel so
Separate –
ordinary and separate.

A few drop dead experiences, please –
in the midst of ordinariness
a reminder
what we’re all about.

Raza d’oraita, secret.
This and This.
Radically And –
code
a child dying
an earthquake, plague, pestilence, the big sufferings,
appearance of spaces empty.

There is no place empty [Zohar]
We are radically And.
We know this mostly —
HaShem Is Elokeinu, Hashem only.

Mi-zeh u-mi-zeh
this and this
no that

no that at all.
